Today I’m excited to share with you the first of the Behind the Lens series. Violet blogs over at Blythe Ponytail Parade and I fell in love with her blog instantly. She is a photographer based out of Indianapolis, Indiana where she lives with her husband and a little pup. Please check out her Photography and send her lots of love, she really is a sweetheart

1. How did you get into photography, What sparked your interest?
I have always loved it for as long as I can remember, but what REALLY sparked my interest and drew me in was my own wedding photographers! They were so dedicated and talented and my pictures are overly treasured. I wanted to provide that same joy to others.

2. What was your first camera you owned?
Not sure : P But my first DSLR was the Nikon D3000. Bottom of the barrel, but it did the trick for the first 6 months!
3. What is your go to lens, what do you love about it?
My 35mm 1.4 is almost always on the camera. It’s versatile, works for landscapes and portraits and I love the bokeh I can get with that lens. Just all around amazing!
4. During a time when everyone is a “photographer” how do you set yourself apart?
I try to set myself apart with fine tuning my editing, constantly trying new things with editing and evolving my style of photographing my clients. I have a specific way I like to do things, but I am ALWAYS wanting to do something new.
5. What inspires you most?
Everyday life does! I love seeing sunsets, children playing, people enjoying life and anything showing movement and joy. I always shoot with the intention of keeping things real and less posed.
6. Lastly what would be your advice for aspiring photographers?
I would say work really hard, build a portfolio, work at perfecting your strong suit in photography and don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone can get inspired by other photographers, but comparing and copying is when creativity really goes out the window.
Thank you so much for having me here today! It’s been wonderful : )
